- Biography
In her leadership role at Georgia State, she oversees the Office of Faculty Affairs, providing supportive infrastructure and programming to recruit, appoint, retain, and support faculty members. The Office of Faculty Affairs works to help faculty achieve their full potential at the university, by assisting with policies and procedures such as those dealing with appointment to positions, leaves, and promotion and tenure; development programs, workshops, and fellowships; leadership programming for university administrators and department chairs; and management of Georgia State’s awards process to recognize outstanding faculty.
Prior to her arrival at Georgia State, Dr. Pandit served as the Associate Provost for International Education at the University of Georgia. Her previous academic and administrative positions include Senior Vice Provost for the State University of New York, Associate Dean of University of Georgia’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, and head of the Department of Geography at the University of Georgia.
Her academic interests lie in the areas of population geography, migration and economic development, and she has a strong record of publications and funded research. She is a former president of the American Association of Geographers and a fellow of the Association. Her recognitions include the Ron F. Abler Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Geographers, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southeastern Division of the AAG, and the Sandy Beaver Award for Outstanding Teaching, from the University of Georgia.
